Egypt's cosmetics and personal care market has surpassed $900 million in revenue for 2025, with projections pointing to $1.57 billion by 2032. That puts the industry on a steady growth path of roughly 7% a year — a pace that signals more than just a passing trend.
What's Fuelling the Growth
A few forces are converging to push demand higher:
A young, digitally-native population. Egypt's demographics skew young, and that age group is driving how beauty products are discovered and bought.
Social media's growing influence. Purchase decisions are increasingly shaped by what people see online, rather than traditional advertising alone.
Rising interest in male grooming. What was once a niche category is becoming a meaningful growth driver in its own right.
Together, these shifts point to beauty becoming both a personal and functional category for Egyptian consumers, tied as much to daily routine and identity as to appearance.
L'Oréal's Bet on Egypt
No conversation about Egypt's beauty market is complete without L'Oréal, which has positioned its Cairo manufacturing plant as a regional export hub. Since opening in 2013, the facility has exported the majority of its production — around 85% — to 20 countries.
The plant also operates on 100% renewable energy with zero wastewater discharge, aligning the manufacturing side of the business with the sustainability expectations increasingly placed on global beauty brands.
The Bigger Regional Picture
Egypt's growth doesn't exist in isolation. The global beauty market crossed €290 billion in 2025, with the combined MENA, South Asia, and Africa region accounting for roughly 12% of that total.
What makes Egypt's position notable is the dual role it's building: a growing consumer market on one hand, and a manufacturing and export base for the wider region on the other. Few markets in MENA are positioned to play both roles at once.
Why It Matters
For brands watching the region, Egypt is worth a second look, both as a place to sell into and as a potential base to build from. As more companies weigh where to manufacture and distribute across MENA, Egypt's combination of scale, demographics, and infrastructure gives it a distinct edge.
